A positive transition from out-of-home care to adulthood
We are working to ensure good transitions to adulthood for young people who are or have been in out-of-home care. An adulthood with a job, education, a place to live, and communities. We do this together with municipalities, NGOs and interest organisations – and the young people themselves.

18 years old and alone
We believe that the transition of young people to their own homes is to be driven by need and not age. It is a smooth transition – just as it is for all other young people.
If you are a young person who has experienced an institutional placement and you turn 18, you often stand alone. Without a network, a residence, or support, it is hard to find a foothold. It is a vulnerable situation, and it can have decisive consequences later in life. It has been this way for decades. It must not be this way any longer.
New opportunities
We are working to help young people who have experienced out-of-home care to enter adulthood from a stronger position. Therefore, we are especially concerned to find how coming from out-of-home care may also provide young people with new opportunities.
Consequently, we are exploring what stepstones may make a difference for young people who have experienced out-of-home care to find their way toward adulthood.
We are doing so with, inter alia, the Foster Care Children's Union (De Anbragtes Vilkår) with which we have a strategic partnership.

Projects, knowledge, and resources
Along with a broad field, we are working to ensure that the important perspectives are part of the mix when we find new solutions for young people with a foster-care background to find their way into adulthood.
