A central place for art in society
We work to ensure more encounters with art in people’s lives. We are convinced that art can help promote commitment to grow our society and democracy. Our mission is under development and we adjust while we work.

We work to create good preconditions, space, and a framework for art to flourish and develop. Art can make us think, take a breath, stop and reconsider. It can move us, give us new insights, and make us look at the world in new ways we might not have thought were possible.
At the same time, we work to help art take responsibility for solving some of the problems we face as a society. It may be in nature, climate, social relations, the labour market, communities in civil society, health – or in completely different welfare areas.

More engagement with our society and democracy
A healthy democracy is characterised by artistic freedom. We support the effort to provide good preconditions, space, and a framework for the development of art.
When people engage with art, new knowledge may arise, new conceptions of the future, and opportunities for action, which may play a role in the development of our society and democracy.
We find that many artists and art institutions increasingly take responsibility for society – in areas of welfare and nature and, more generally, in other arenas that are not restricted to art.
This is not a limit to art – but helps provide art with a larger playing field in which art with its playful, challenging, and experimental force may influence structures, cultures, and systems in our society.

New collaborations may create positive social change
If art is to be even more active in the development of our communities, it requires people and organisations to cooperate across sectors, professional fields, and positions.
We support this as we believe that art, experiments, and the power of example can help us to imagine how society may look different in the future.
As such, we contribute to experiments and collaborations across sectors of our society in order to solve some of society’s most complex problems.

A mission under change
We are currently working on developing our mission. We do this by listening to a wide range of stakeholders and being curious about how art can make a difference for more people.
